Faith.

With sun scorched thirst

Bending over the rushing stream

My eyes light with joy

Knowing my feverishly parched soul will soon be satiated

I cup my hands

Carefully scooping every slosh

I gather with all the strength of my force

Every drop of You

But as I lift my hands

I cannot contain it

Living Water slipping out

Without my permission

Seeping out between the edges

My fingers grip tighter

Clenching to hold what’s left

My hands approach my lips

The Living Water cool and fresh

No polite little sips here

Gulping, gasping, swallowing, desperate

Sweeter than words

Dripping down my arms

Living Water, I need more

I believe, please flood my unbelief

With the fire of Your Spirit, Your Breath, Your Word

Help me oh, Lord

To be a better cup

To hold more of You, my soul be quenched

And to carry You well

For there are others who thirst

And need a cupful, too

Help me oh, Lord

Be a cup-bearer

A Christ-bearer

A faith-bearer

For nothing is done

Without

Faith.

Hebrews 11:6 NIV – And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
