One Year Closer

By Melissa McLaughlin

One year gone.

A new year awaits.

Breathless…

with dazzling days

high hopes

and glimmers of grandeur.

Never mind bent bodies

and weary bones

slower steps

and wisdom from wasted days gone by.

Though evil from without and within

wages war on hearts leaning to the LORD

Yet our eyes blaze bright

With flickers of glory-fire.

The Light of the world

Cracks the skies of our souls

Widening our heavenly view

The veil grows thin

Visions divine seeping through

Just up ahead now.

Seated on the throne

High and lifted up

The train of His robe floods the temple

Billowing smoke

Thunderous shaking

Holy

Holy

Holy

The figure of a man

Glowing amber

Brilliant light

The glory of the LORD!

Faithful and True

Flaming eyes

Crown upon crown

Robed in righteousness

Dipped in blood

Armed with strength

Sword of Truth

Word of God

Piercing soul and spirit

joint and marrow

He rules and reigns

He saves all who come, all who confess

He judges the world

We bow down

Low

Low

Low

Before the Eternal Majesty

Holder of life and breath

The Risen One

Victorious Savior

Mighty God

Prince of Peace

The man on the cross, the God who arose

THE KING OF KINGS

AND LORD OF LORDS

Jesus. Christ. Is. Returning.

The earth groans.

The heavens quake.

Awake, look up

Redemption draws nigh!

The Spirit and the Bride say

Come, Lord Jesus!

Are you ready?

One day closer.

One year closer.

Breathless…
